Repository of Asset Management Action Plans (AMAPs)

Developed during the UN/DESA Online Solutions Dialogues by officials from local and national governments

Commitment to change at the grassroots level, on a global scale. The purpose of the AMAP is to demonstrate local efforts happening around the world to improve the management of a priority infrastructure asset. We hope asset management practitioners will be able to learn from each other’s good practices, reflect them in their own processes and policies, and feel encouraged by the fact that infrastructure asset management can yield substantial short- and long-term benefits even through small actions.

Please navigate the map below by double-clicking and drag-clicking on it, or by using the buttons on the bottom right corner. If the map is blank please give it a few seconds to load

Put yourself on the map of AMAPs with these simple steps:

  1. TeamYou may work alone, but we recommend that you gather a small team of 3-4 colleagues from multiple government departments that are (or should be) involved in asset management. You may consider people working in engineering, health, education, water, waste management, procurement, finance and community development.
  2. Priority asset. With your team, decide on one priority asset you wish to focus on first. You can reference pages 134-136 of the  Handbook on asset management  for criteria on how to determine the priority asset.
  3. Focal point: Collectively assign a focal point for asset management (feel free to volunteer!) at the technical level and seek endorsement by the town clerk/CAO for that appointment.
  4. Template: Begin to populate the  AMAP template  and consult the  writing guide  to help you.
  5. Submit: Send your completed template as an attachment to  iamh@un.org  with the subject line: “AMAP Submission for [insert government name or organization] here”. Please state in the email that you give UN DESA permission to post your AMAP on our website.
