The  Centre for Independent Journalism (CIJ)  is a nonprofit organisation in Malaysia that aspires to a society that is democratic, just, and free – where all people can enjoy independent media and the freedom to express, seek, and impart information. 

Centre for Journalism Innovation and Development (CJID)

Amid recent attacks on democracy and the media in Nigeria, the  Centre for Journalism, Innovation and Development (CJID)  deploys innovative measures to promote an independent media landscape and participatory governance through allied programmes targeting Nigeria's and Africa's underrepresented, including women and youth.

Civic Compass

Civic Compass, a program of  Civic House , focuses on issues at the intersection of digital technology and representative democracy.

Insights from their most recent publication, Civic Participation Platforms and Content Regulation, underscore the pressing need for nuanced regulations that differentiate between commercial tech giants and mission-driven platforms, especially in regards to platforms' content moderation policies.

More than a non-governmental organization,  Conectas  is part of a lively and global movement that persists in the struggle for equal rights. Connected to an extensive network of partners spread across Brazil and the world, they are present and make themselves heard in the various decision-making spaces that contribute to the advancement of human rights from the perspective of the Global South.

Fundacion para la Libertad de Prensa (FLIP)

 Fundacion para la Libertad de Prensa (FLIP)  works to defend freedom of the press, the right to information, human dignity, and the free work of journalists. They are a multidisciplinary team of professionals who work to investigate the conditions of journalism in Colombia and take actions to promote the safety and protection for journalists throughout the country.

The Institute for Policy Research and Advocacy (ELSAM)

The Institute for Policy Research and Advocacy (ELSAM) is a civil society organisation based in Jakarta that works to enhance democracy in Indonesia by empowering civil society through advocacy and promotion of human rights. 

International Center for Journalists (ICFJ)

The  International Center for Journalists (ICFJ)  builds the expertise and digital skills journalists need to deliver trustworthy news essential for vibrant societies. Since its founding in 1984, ICFJ has worked with more than 132,000 professional and citizen journalists and media managers from 173 countries.

One recent project, the Online Violence Early Warning System (EWS), is designed to detect, predict, and ultimately help prevent the escalation of online abuse, harassment, and attacks against women journalists.

InternetLab

 InternetLab  is an independent research center that aims to foster academic debate around issues involving law and technology, especially internet policy. Their goal is to conduct interdisciplinary impactful research and promote dialogue among academics, professionals, and policymakers.

As a nexus of expertise in technology, public policy, and social sciences, InternetLab's research agenda covers a wide range of topics, including privacy, freedom of speech, gender, and technology.

People vs Big Tech

 People vs Big Tech (PvBT)  is an open network of civil society organisations and concerned citizens working together to challenge the power and abuses of Big Tech. PvBT's work on platform accountability in the EU focuses on enforcement to tackle the challenges of hate speech and disinformation through strategic litigation and movement building.

Public Interest Litigation Project

Based in the Netherlands, the  Public Interest Litigation Project (PILP)  enables legal action and strategic litigation when alternative routes to justice have been blocked or are ineffective. We support PILP to equip movements, activists and affected communities with the tools to take legal action against Big Tech.

Red en Defensa de los Derechos Digitales (R3D)

The  Network in Defense of Digital Rights (R3D)  is a Mexican organisation dedicated to the defence of human rights in the digital environment focusing on freedom of expression, privacy, and access to knowledge.

Our partnership supports R3D's work to build evidence-based approaches to defend human rights in the digital realm.

Southeast Asia Freedom of Expression Network (SAFENet)

 The Southeast Asia Freedom of Expression Network (SAFENet)  is a civil society organisation based in Denpasar that aspires to realise a digital space that upholds human rights values for all through defending digital rights, including the right to internet access, the right to free expression, and the right to safety in digital spaces.
