LCA, in collaboration with Central Vermont Trout Unlimited and Vermont River Conservancy, will be planting trees and shrubs on ~3.5 acres along the north side of Lewis Creek in Ferrisburgh in spring 2022.

LCA will have a boat launch steward stationed at Monkton Pond, checking boats as they enter and leave the pond to remove aquatic invasive species, and educating boaters on how to limit the spread of invasive species.

LCA will have a boat launch steward stationed at Bristol Pond, checking boats as they enter and leave the pond to remove aquatic invasive species, and educating boaters on how to limit the spread of invasive species. We will also help coordinate volunteers to tackle the removal of a newly-discovered population of Brittle Naiad, in collaboration with VT DEC staff.

We're collaborating with Addison County Regional Planning Commission to apply for a planning grant to explore options to minimize the impacts of flooding.

This Starksboro Project Development grant will allow us to reach out to nearby landowners to assess their interest in conserving the river corridor on their properties.

This stormwater grant, received from VT DEC/Watersheds United Vermont, in collaboration with the Town of Starksboro, will create a concept design for the ballfields property.

We will be adding documentation to make the Last Resort Farm an Ahead of the Storm demonstration site, where gullies were repaired leading to Pond Brook (a tributary to Lewis Creek).

In collaboration with Addison County Regional Planning Commission, we've applied for funding to remove old bridge abutments in Hollow Brook (a tributary to Lewis Creek), and to replace a double culvert that is blocking aquatic organism passage. These projects will also lower flood risk in the nearby Lazy Brook Mobile Home Park.

Lake Iroquois-Patrick Brook Watershed Action Plan

In partnership with Winooski Natural Resources Conservation District and the Lake Iroquois Association, this grant will fund property assessments and outreach to neighborhoods in the Lake Iroquois and Patrick Brook watershed, resulting in a prioritized list of projects to improve water water quality, and several project concept designs.

We have applied for funding for construction of a restored wetland behind the United Church of Hinesburg, where the wetland had historically been converted to agriculture, then playing fields.

We have received grant funding from Lake Champlain Basin Program/NEIWPCC to create a concept design for a bioretention area and recommendations for flooding/erosion occurring in Lyman Meadows in Hinesburg.

This Lake Champlain Basin Program/NEIWPCC-funded grant will result in a prioritized list of stormwater projects, and three concept designs, to improve water quality in the McCabe's Brook watershed (Charlotte and Shelburne).

We coordinate volunteers who remove European frogbit, an aquatic invasive species, from the LaPlatte River Natural Area.

We coordinate volunteers who will remove European frogbit from Town Farm Bay in Charlotte, where percent coverage of frogbit has successfully been reduced from 50% to less than 5%.

We will be continuing to collect water quality samples with volunteers through our South Chittenden River Watch program in collaboration with VT DEC's LaRosa Partnership Program, sampling streams in the LaPlatte River, McCabe's Brook, Thorp Brook, Kimball Brook, Patrick Brook, Mud Hollow, and Lewis Creek watersheds.

We are partnering with Lake Champlain Committee, Lake Champlain Sea Grant, and others to create a guidance manual for landowners that will help them assess their property, and direct them to the proper resources to protect and improve water quality. We will also be reaching out to two neighborhoods with an event to connect them to their local watersheds and discuss recommendations for stormwater improvements.
