Petrol or diesel vehicles are highly polluting and are being quickly replaced by electric vehicles which have zero emissions and are much better for the environment.
Gujarat Electric Vehicle Policy plans to add 200,000 EVs by 2025 which will include – 110,000 – electric 2 wheeler 70,000 – electric 3 wheelers 20,000 – electric cars The Policy aims to move the state’s transportation sector toward electric mobility to reduce pollution and protect the environment. The policy will also encourage new EV technology and help create job opportunities in the EV sector The per kilometer expenditure of an EV is 30-50 % lesser than an internal combustion engine (ICE).
Shifting Towards Electric Vehicles
Advantages of Electric Vehicles
Petrol or diesel vehicles are highly polluting and are being quickly replaced by fully electric vehicles which have zero emissions and are much better for the environment. In India 79% of the EV addition is from the three-wheeler segment, followed by two-wheelers (17%); the four-wheeler segment contributes only 3% towards the overall EVs on the road
Guidelines as per Ministry of power for Installation of charging stations
Comparitive study of Eectric Vehicle in India
Types of Charging stations
There are 4 Types of charging stations 1) Public charging stations 2) Battery charging stations 3) Captive charging stations 4) Battery swapping stations
State wise Sanctioned EV Stations in India
As per MOHUA there were 100 smart cities defined in which there were major cities and union UTs. In which Gujarat were sanctioned 228 charging stations and only 38 are installed and there is still gap of 190 stations. The major company which were selected by ministry of Heavy industries to build charging Infrastructure were NTPC, PGCIl, IOCL, HPCL, Energy Efficiency Services Limited.
Methodology Followed
This study is based on Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation. There are currently 3 privately owned Ev stations in Gandhinagar city.
Weights given to different Parameters
An Analytical Hierarchical Process (AHP) was used to rank the various criteria's and the resulting weights were used to construct the Suitability map for Electric Vehicle Charging Station using the weighted sum overlay tool in GIS.
Importance of layers
Here the parameters which were taken into consideration are expained
After that each layers were reclassified as per their importance.
Each Layers were reclassified and then weighted overlay tool was used as per esitimated weights for each layers.
