Welcome to Geospatial Analysis at Fairfax HS!

Welcome to Geospatial Analysis!
Geospatial Analysis is a technology-based capstone course for students of all skill and interest levels. The main focus of the course is GIS (Geographic Information Systems), a powerful mapping technology, and spatial skills that will provide benefits in many career fields.
This course counts as a 4th science or as an elective, and is available to seniors and juniors who have already taken 3 sciences or who will be concurrently enrolled in their 3rd science.
In addition, students may choose to dual-enroll through James Madison University's Geospatial Semester program. By paying a discounted tuition, students may earn 3 college credits from JMU that can be transferred to other colleges and universities in Virginia and beyond.
Regardless of dual-enrollment status, all students in the course earn a 1.0 GPA boost!
Below is a video, an information sheet, some photos, and Mr. Smolinski's contact information.
I hope to see you in the fall!

I absolutely loved this class ... Working solely with material I had never seen before was a really unique and challenging experience for me. As a result, when I was successful in completing a mapping task or big project I always felt very accomplished and proud of my work.- Kristen
