Didactic heritage route in Madrid

HERIGEOCARTO Una-Europa Project

Madrid for Beginners

My itinerary aims to introduce the basic attractions in Madrid to a person who is not related to the city and does not know much about it. The route is based on the most important historical places of the city, connected primarily with the royal power and bourgeois life of this Castilian metropolis.

1

Royal Palace

The Royal Palace in Madrid is the focal point of power, which today has a more representative character, but in the past it played a key role in state politics. The rich history associated with this place will allow you to better understand the nuances of Spanish history. Estimated duration of stay: 30 minutes.

2

Gran Via

Gran Via, Wielka Street, is an amalgam of the diversity of the Spanish world, a monument to rich history and splendor in a truly bourgeois edition. Although it is only a street, its difference from a typical street in Poland will allow you to experience European diversity. Estimated walking time: 30 minutes.

3

Plaza del Sol

One of the central and most important points of the city, although it used to be one of the entry points. It will allow us to better understand the city's tissue and its specific character. Estimated walking time: 10 minutes. Estimated duration of stay: 30 minutes.

4

Plaza Mayor

Plaza Mayor is also one of the main landmarks in Madrid's old town. Interestingly, the place itself has undergone strong gentrification over the past centuries. From a place of the urban poor, despised by the rich, it has become a central meeting point. The place can be a good opportunity to tell a story about gentrification and pauperization. Estimated walking time: 10 minutes. Estimated duration of stay: 30 minutes.

5

Stwarza dobrą okazję do opowiedzenia historii o hiszpańskiej szlachcie. Szacowany czas przejścia: 10 minut. Szacowany czas pobytu: 30 minut.

6

Museo Nacional del Prado

The last point of the trip will be a visit to the Museo del Prado - one of the most important museums in Spain and the world, rich in exhibits from around the world, which creates an infinite number of opportunities for lessons in history, art, philosophy and many other subjects. Estimated walking time: 10 minutes. Estimated duration of stay: 120 minutes.
