Drone Demo Day

Austin Community College

Austin Community College (ACC) held our first ever Drone Demo Day in coordination with the FAA's  National Drone Safety Awareness Week . Students gathered at the Hays Campus in Kyle, Texas to learn about drone vehicles, safety, and education at ACC. Instructors demonstrated how to pilot different types of drones and process remotely sensed data. Scroll down to explore images, data, and video from this fun and informative event!

Industries are using drones to collect images, video, and other remotely sensed data to support agriculture, surveying & mapping, engineering, construction, inspection, public safety, environmental science, business development, real estate, photography, videography, and more! At ACC, we're serious about drones. The FAA recently designated ACC as an  Unmanned Aircraft Systems Collegiate Training School  (UAS-CTI). This collaboration supports the FAA's efforts to expand the aviation workforce of the future; provides additional opportunities for Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) students; and ensures UAS-CTI school graduates master the technology, rules, and safety required to succeed in a UAS-related field.
