"Go to America"
While living in Chihuahua, Mexico, Antonio Ocon was working in the local political scene. Not everyone was a fan of his politics and him and his family began to receive death threats. Antonio's mother, Paula, pushed the family to move to the United States.

Antonio Settles in LA
Using Catalina Ocon's relatives in California as sponsors, Antonio was able to get to LA. He gets a job working for Hostess Bakery and must wait a year and a half before his family can follow him into the states. At that time, Catalina was pregnant with their fifth child and the immigration process was delayed.

Growing Up in East LA
During Phil's 10th birthday in 1960, he received an unexpected birthday gift of yet another brother. This brother was Paul (my dad), the first American. The family ended up in East LA where my dad attended Nogales High School.

Where My Parents Met
Paul put himself through college and nursing school and worked as a nurse at the Stanford Children's Hospital. This is where he met my mom. Jacqueline Jacobs was working as a pediatric ER nurse at the same hospital and they quickly got engaged.
