Solo Trip: Alberta to Vancouver Island
In July 2021 I drove from my home in Airdrie, AB to Vancouver Island to visit friends and did some exploring along the way.

At the end of 2020, friends of mine (Monica and Rino) packed up and followed a long time dream of theirs to move to Vancouver Island. One of the last things I said to them was: "I am coming to visit!". I made good on that promise in July 2021, here is my journey.
Generalized breakdown of my trip.
Below is a map tour of my trip. Scroll down to see each point of interest. Each point of interest includes picture(s) I took trying to capture the moments (click on each picture to enlarge it). I hope you enjoy the tour!
I did not take pictures on my way home. We all know what it is like heading back home from vacation; you're exhausted and a bit depressed to get back to the routine of real life. I stayed the night in Kamloops and that was a trip! Since I had passed through a week before, fires had broken out all around the area. It was super smokey and there was a layer of ash on my car the next morning. The motel I stayed in was sketchy to say the least, I dubbed it "The Murder Motel" because it was pretty murder-y looking! I finally made it home that next day with lots of stories and amazing memories. I faced my fear of solo travelling on this trip and it prepared me for the biggest solo (with my dog Kayn) trip of my life that came a month later - my drive home to New Brunswick!
This was taken moments before we embarked (pun intended) on our trip home to NB. Don't worry, she had a very comfy spot to lay in, on top of a 42" TV and lots of blankets. I surprised myself with how much I was able to pack in the back of my tiny little Chevy Spark! :)
