Streamline Transit Development Plan
Help us plan for the future and improve transit in Bozeman and the surrounding areas.

Project Overview

Streamline bus at Downtown Transit Center
HRDC is currently updating their Transit Development Plan (TDP) which will outline changes to Streamline and Galavan over the next three to five years. Funding for this plan came from the Federal Transit Administration’s (FTA’s) Areas of Persistent Poverty Grant. Ensuring that Streamline service is accessible and equitable is a key goal of this plan. The previous plan was developed during the COVID-19 pandemic, and things have changed a lot since then. The area has experienced faster than expected growth, and it is important that these transit services keep up with the transportation needs of this growing community.
Streamline benefits us all!
- Increases opportunities for all (e.g., provides transportation to work, school, recreation, shopping, etc.)
- Serves all people (seniors, people with mobility challenges, young riders)
- Provides access to vital healthcare
- Reduces traffic congestion
- Decreases parking pressure
Please take our survey to provide your input on ways to enhance the future of these HRDC transit services. We appreciate any feedback that helps us to better understand the needs of the community.
Current System

Streamline System Map
Streamline Transit serves Bozeman with connections to Belgrade and Livingston zero-fare. It is comprised of fixed, commuter, and seasonal route services, along with a paratransit service through Galavan. Streamline also connects to the Skyline Bus System for travel to and from Big Sky and Jefferson Lines Intercity Bus Service.
Since the Redesign Streamline 2020 TDP, the following strategies have been implemented, which have led to Streamline being recognized by the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) for Connecting Rural Communities and as a Green Fleet by Yellowstone-Teton Clean Cities. Additionally, the Redesign Streamline 2020 TDP was voted #1 Best Use of Tax Payer Dollars:
- Updated existing routes to be linear and bidirectional rather than circular one-way loops
- Developed new bus stop signs and added route indicator signs to better the rider experience
- Improved public perception and understanding of our service
- Worked with the Public Transportation Stakeholder Steering Committee to create the Gallatin Valley Urban Transportation District (UTD) for the community
- Voters passed the formation of the Gallatin Valley UTD by 79%!
