DRIMAS students have spent the trimester studying various trees at the Franklin Park Overlook. Explore them here by scrolling through!
Meridian Academy
We begin our journey at Meridian Academy. From Meridian, Walk up Montebello Road up the hill toward Washington Street, then continue stright up the hill.
Top of the Hill
When you reach the top of the hill, turn right!
Find the Park Entrance
After a block or two, you will find the park entrance. Enter the park and start walking along the path next to the stadium.
Walk Along the Path
Continue on the path in Franklin Park.
Continue on the path.
You will see a path leading up the small hill on your left.
Take this left path.
When you come to the fork in the road, take the right path!
Our first tree is just up ahead...
Frances and Eleanor's Tree
SPECIES: Lindheiemer Hackberry
HEIGHT: 18.2 ft
DIAMETER AT BREAST HEIGHT: 6.6 cm
To find 1Y's trees, we have to do a little off-roading...
Head into the woods past Xander's tree, moving southeast.
Follow this path, then turn right...
And you will find...
Isabella and Jack Ozro's Tree
SPECIES: Common Hackberry
HEIGHT: 38 ft
DBH: 58.6 cm
From here, head up the hill...
At the very top you will find...
Now head back down the hill the way you came, and follow the path to the left.
Continue on until you find...
Head down the hill at the right and you will find...
Head back up the hill and take a left. Follow the path until you find...
