Introduction

Imagine untouched wilderness resting upon a +1,000 foot elevation area with tall trees having an understory of ferns and wild rhododendrons. This is Welsh Mountain Preserve, managed by the Lancaster Conservancy, Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

Hiking trail names coincide with trail blaze colors, connecting Money Rocks County Park, serving as connectors, and the Blue Trail meandering the size of the preserve.

Welsh Mountain Nature Preserve - Lancaster Conservancy

Easy to moderate. Multiple loops, including a half-mile (fully forested) Universally-Accessible Trail, and the opportunity to extend hikes well into the adjacent Money Rocks County Park. Because of poor sub-soil conditions and a past use as off-roading, many trails have been closed and restored to mitigate soil erosion and stormwater runoff.
