The Golden Triangle

The Golden Triangle is an area in northwestern B.C. known for mining and mineral exploration due to its abundant mineralization and ore deposits!

Prospectors were first drawn to the area in 1861 during the Stikine Gold Rush.

Today, the Golden Triangle is a hub for B.C. mining activities with operating mines, proposed mines, and exploration projects.

Learn more about the Golden Triangle on DigiGeoData's page below.

In 2020, it was estimated that more than half of the total exploration expenditures in the province were focused in northwestern B.C.

Some of the mines, developing projects, and 100+ exploration projects underway in the Golden Triangle include:

  • Red Chris Mine
  • Brucejack Mine
  • Galore Creek
  • Kitsault
  • KSM
  • Red Mountain
  • Schaft Creek
  • Premier
  • Snip
  • Eskay Creek

Explore the different mining and mineral exploration projects on the DigiGeoAtlas Golden Triangle interactive map below.

Tahltan Nation

Tahltan Territory, located in northwestern B.C, makes up 11% of the province and is a highly diverse terrain with rivers, glaciers, mountains, volcanoes, and 8/14 of B.C.'s biogeoclimatic zones!

Mining has been a practice for the Tahltans for thousands of years and during the present day.

In April 2021, the Tahltan Central Government (TCG) signed a $5 million agreement with one of the developing mineral exploration projects in the Golden Triangle.

Learn about this agreement in a news release on the Tahltan Central Government (TCG) page below.
