Configure a group template

After you create a group template, choose a primary toolset, configure the tool palette, add the secondary templates, and configure them with the available feature builders. These settings are available in the Template Properties dialog box.

When you configure a group template, consider the following:

  • Group templates reference existing feature templates and inherit their target layer, feature attributes, and embedded table templates.
  • The combined properties of the primary template and the enabled toolset determine the secondary feature templates you can add to a group template and their available builders.
  • If the primary feature template creates a utility network feature, click the Associations tab to choose which applicable associations are created.

Select a group template and open template properties

Select a layer in the Manage Templates pane layer view, select a group template in the template view, and open template properties.

This toolset is available with primary templates that create point or polyline features.

    Radial tools

    Sketch radial line feature geometry.

If the primary template creates point features, the line toolset creates temporary geometry used by secondary feature template builders to place the secondary features.

This toolset is available with primary templates that create point or polyline features.

    Polygon tools

    Sketch polygon feature geometry.

This toolset is available with primary templates that create polygon features

  3. Hover over the Click to set as default tool buttons and enable one tool to run automatically when the template is active.
